No shadow was used, only the new Ambiant Occlusion plugin available at flay.com.

2 area lights (shadow off)
1 image world
No radiosity
L-E antialiasing...

...and the blur/grain effect found at :
http://www.lwhub.com/rendertrick/

5 min rendering on Athlon XP 1.8

Thank for viewing

Not bad! You said you are using image world, what is the image of? Your reflections could be more.... interesting? The secret to good chrome is good reflections.

Thanks you

I used the usual HDR "Kitchen_probe" found everywhere on the net.

I agree that i have to work on reflections. No specific chrome reflection map was used, only the environnemental reflection.

Also, a little bit of Bloom and DOF would be great too.

I'll work on it tonight.

And zoom in a bit (or use DoF) - those tiles aren't as interesting as the 'saber!

Go here and get some better probes.

http://www.debevec.org/Probes/

Yes, just set them as a background image so the metal has something to reflect, don't bother with putting any images in the reflection channel.

If you don't have F-Prime, I highly recommend it. My texturing leapt forward light-years when I started using it. It is money well spent.

I also agree with Darth Mole.

Darth Mole : thank you. I planned to add some DoF (actually X-Dof)

MattClary:

Thanks for the links, i already have the kitchen one, It will be interesting to try other probes.

Also, If i remember, my diffuse channel are too high (near 100%) for the chrome surface, i think it should be less around 20-40% for chrome type metal.

And yes, I bought F-Prime weeks ago and it rocks... But it seems to have some trouble with Sg_ambiant occlusion, but i'm figuring out why.

I'll show you the results...

By the way, i saw your Lightsabers rendering and they rocks.... Great job !!!.
I guess you will buy the trilogy (IV-V-VI) on DVD next week ?!? ... i'm waiting for it !

I just realised it's only a few days now before I get my Star Wars DVDs popping through my letterbox :-)
