I'm wondering if there's a way to select an edge and, for example, divide it into three equal segments.

Thanks,
Andrew

You can't select Edges in Lightwave, just Polys and Points. If you want to segment a Poly try Bandsaw Pro.

Interesting.

If I create a box, select a face with Polygons on, and click on "Divide", I get the message:

"No edges selected."

No kidding, huh?

Guess I'll have to live with that for now.

Or model somewhere else..

Also try 'Edge Tools', just depends on what you want.

Ever try SketchUp?

Well, you could select the face and bandsaw it using uniform divide. It woudl split the face up evenly and then you could delete the polys and manually recreate the face with all the new points. It would take you all of 15 seconds.

Personally I'd select the face, Cut, Paste, Bandsaw it and then Merge Points

Does it work on a -single- polygon?

I'd use edgetools. Just select the poly you want to subdivide, then set the smap to 33.3% and cut the first edge. Then restart it again and set the snap to 50%.

you can use the cut tool for that.
