View Full Version : Transfering textures between 2 objects with same surface names-

we often model in another modeller than LW so we do a lot of export to LW.
and we have to transfer the textures,

here are some steps we usually do :
-model object with 50 surfaces (example) in a modeller
-export to LW modeller and convert to lwo file
-go in layout and texture it
-we go back in the modeller and fix some bugs and add some stuff to the model
-re-export to LW modeller
-transfer textures from the old model.. <-- what is the best way to do that?


the way I do it right now is :
-import new object in layout in an empty scene
-change "edit by" in the surface panel to "scene" (instead of objects)
-import the old object which has the textures
-go in surface panel and click on all surfaces (this assign the newest texture
to all the models having the same name surface)
-save all objects

it works, but it takes some steps...
is there any easier way ? or a plugin which can do that?

-Load the old model in the modeler.
-Load the new model in the modeler as well.
-Copy the new model and paste it in the old model (second layer).

It will get the textures attributes from the old model...
cut the new model from the second layer, delete the old model first layer and paste the new one in the first layer with its new surfaces attributes, save it... that's it.
