Hello all,
I am new to lightwave(was using maya) and wondering if Sasquatch is the best tool for hair and fur creation? Don't want to spend $500 if it is not the best.

Thanks in advanced,
Matt

p.s. So happy that i made the switch to lightwave. It's such a bad *** program!

As far as I know, it's your only option. (Aside from cleverly "faking it" via traditional means....geometry/transparency maps/etc. Or if you can get your hands on an old copy of Joe Alter's Shave and a Haircut, which is no longer developed for LW. Personally I feel Sasquatch is superior to Shave anyway, but it might be nice to have a choice). That being said, Sasquatch is a fine program and it's unlikely that you'll be disappointed with it. :)

Thanks!
I know that it is a short cut but i need more than a week to learn this awesome program. The only 3d software that i have worked with before is swift3d. So my modeling skills are not up to par for a real 3d program. Thanks again and if you think of any thing that could help a newbie get through the world of 3d then please let me know.

Matt

As far as tutorials specifically related to hair creation, here's some that should get you started:
