Hello all,
Hopefully someone can help me with this texture problem I am having. I am trying to apply this texture to these two faces so it stretches accross both faces instead of what's happening now (see picture). I have triedmaking a UV map, planar map on the X Axis, I have also tried making it a regular planar map with the same results. I have no idea how to do this and if anyone out there has a clue how to fix this problem that would be great!

Thanks in advance,

in your situation, two polygons are sharing the same UV space. do this:

select the two polygons in modeler.

create a uv map > planar > choose your axis > choose your uv map.

you should be able to confirm using the UV viewport (it's in the viewport dropdown menus) whether or not the polygons are in the proper place. both polys must be side by side with each other in the UV viewport.

Thanks I did that and it worked.

My question is, shouldnt planar work just the same? I dont understand why it applied the map to each face instead of both at the same time.

You could have used Planar as well in that situation from the look of it. It didn't work as you wanted because the texture was being tiled twice since its scale setting wasn't enough for it to reach across.

If you had just set it to planar and used automatic sizing it should have worked, if those two faces are the only ones that are using that surface. Automatic Sizing will try to stretch the texture to fit the polygons that are using that surface.

Maybe it was being buggy, because I had both faces selected and i hit auto size on the x axis, and it repeated the map still.

Whatever the case I got it to work using the UV map. Thanks for your help!

That isn't a bug. Think about it for a while. If you planar map in X. The whole image is projected onto both of the polys.

Simply planar mapping in Y would have done what you wanted.

Don't forget to autosize.

I UV map everything these days. It saves having to worry about what the texture is going to do if I rotate the mesh.
