Is there a way of locking a texture map to a poly in modeller i.e. i mapped a tree image to a square poly...when i move the poly in modeller the image map does not move with it....any ideas!

Use a UV map for that.

Cheers,
Mike

neilp,

UV's may be a bit much if you're just starting out...

make your poly, put your tree pic on it if you want, and send it to layout.

Once your tree is mapped to the poly, you can move it anywhere you want in layout and have it "stick".
I'm assuming you have an alpha of the tree (a black and white copy - the "tree and leaves" will be white, the background will be black. Select your poly, open Properties, and use the alpha as a Clip Map.

You can clone the poly as many times as you need, and move each of the clones anywhere you need them. The textures will stick.
