I want to get one of these and try lightwave on it: http://store.sharpsystems.com/product.asp?sku=2555920

wonder how well it would work?

Probably would work well for 2D, but i'm not sure or aware of any LW apps that would take advantage of the 3D end. If you plan on creating or playing 3D games with a game app it might be cool. For me it's a bit expensive for something that's 1400 smackers and only a 15" screen. If I had that sorta money, I'd just as soon use it for a couple cool plugins for LW - would be more fun and a lot more usefull.

Lightwave can create the steroscopic images that are required for the 3D effect. The new monitor allows you to view them without the need of the glasses. Could be something in the future if it catches on. Imagine playing Doom 3 type of game in 3D with those monsters actually jumping out at you.

I know this! I was just stating that I thought it was just a bit pricey.

Well, we have a "3d" monitor here at work.. ViewSonic VG181b and it sucks :), yeah of course its nice to look those images, but the image quality really sucks.. All the small details like text goes to a pixel smosh, so you cannot read them plus all sort of small things that I really dont want to list here... Just wanted to say, that Im not that thrilled about 3d monitors anymore...

Or you could buy 3D glasses for, like, $70, and a 20" LCD monitor for about $1000.

Or if you already have a monitor, you could buy 3D glasses for, like, $70.

I have a Cinema MAC 23" HD flat screen that I use with LW 7.5c on a G5 dual - works great and the picture is sharp - no complaints here!!!
