Matt

It nice to have shound but right now I've been getting like a 2 sec clip and then wait 15 for another 2 sec clip. It has been really difficult to figure out what their talking about when I only get a few seconds at a time :( Any one else have this problem yet?

I'm experiencing a LOT of rebuffering here (Leamington Spa, UK) what about everyone else?

colkai

Likewise - serious stuttering ... it's like listening to a conversation through a swinging door ;)
(Thank the gods Chuck has said they'll be available to download from the FTP! :D )

Whew I thought it was me since I'm only 400 miles away. I guess we are eating up all their bandwidth hehehe:D

Im "around the corner" in Las Vegas on a T! line and its very laggy here as well. Its difficult to watch with all those pauses, but the picture looks good.

Well, at least it's not jusr slowing down crossing the ocean ;)
Pretty unwatchable though, frustratingly so.
I guess we're all keen to see how it goes! :D

Here is a cap of my screen. It must be the distance to your system :D Sorry didn't crop my screen grab. Here is another look that is a little better in size.

Tell you what, I have an idea, why don't you all switch off, I'll watch and I'll tell you what happens tomorrow! ;)

*LOL*

Oh come on Matt. I'm just around the corner and I'll get the best feed since the Univeristy here has a couple OC3 lines comming in. But hey the lags are getting better now. I now get 5 seconds of sound and video for every 30 seconds hehehe.

I'll do that, I'm off to the beer garden instead :D

BTw, it was choppy and laggy as hell here as well (2MBit line), but the video was fine ...once it showed a picture.

Cheers and enjoy the show!

Matt you must've been running the stream on the browser window, as well as the standalone player. Whenever you switch to the stand alone player, close the browser window, before the player loads the video. If it sill happens reload the stream in the player, after you make sure no other videos are playing elsewhere. It looks like a video card driver issue to me.

As for the stream, well it's almost worthless as it is. Nobody seems to get anything out of it, even those with military grade connections :D Let us hope the promised downloadable QT files are informative enough, and well compressed.

I had closed the window behind! Oh well, like you say, let's hope for the downloads!

The stream seems "weak". I get bursts of streaming from the server, and then it just stops giving me data!

NewTek needs to check the VT3's prostate.

Okay every one you can have my bandwidth. I've checked out since now all I get is video and no audio. Still comes in spirts though so I'll just wait for the downloads and check them out later. :(

There really is no substitute for being there I guess.

It's not worth watching here... I get about one second of audio/video, then it buffers for 20 seconds... repeat ad nauseum.

Frustrating to say the least.

Maybe it will be better tomorrow.

When I try to watch the stream, all I get is that "nowebcast" over and over and over.. apparently Media Player cannot connect to the stream.

Is anyone else having this problem?

Wade

Yes no luck here either.

tjacobs
08-10-2004, 02:09 PM
Sastira, I am getting the same issue. Only twice have I been lucky enough to get the actual video clip. Although the video would buffer for about 15 seconds for every 10 seconds of video.

Sastira

:(

Anyone wanna donate a few Backbones to the Newtek Booth? :D

lede
08-10-2004, 02:19 PM
They can have the bone from my back if it will help :D

tjacobs, wow how did you luck out. When I was watching it I got about 2 seconds of feed for about every 30 seconds of buffering.

I'm just wondering how many people have been trying to watch the web cast to bring their bandwidth to a crawl. Oh well mabie NT will have a chance to read our comments and fix it for tommarow.

Oooh!! Oooh!! I'm in!!

It's buffering every five or so seconds though. :(

At 6:45 CST the stream was fixed 318k/bps. :D

Cheers,

I think that's because by that time, most everyone else had given up! ;)
I know I had, just totally unwatchable, much worse than last years stream. Here's hoping matters improve.

It's 20:30 now and it has improved considerably, plus, I got to listen to Tim Albee - cool! ;)

Now I just hope it stays up for the superb Mr Van Dyke.
