View Full Version : Projected image and transparency

Hi,

I am using LW 8. I am projecting a 32 bit logo image onto a cube through a light.

It all works fine. Now I want the cube to be transparent so I can
only see the projected image.

I have tried setting the object to unseen by camera and setting the surfaces of the cube to a transparency of 100%.

That makes the cube disapper but also makes the projected image disappear.

How can I make the cube transparent and keep the projected image?

Are you trying to visualize the texture on an angle or straight on?

You could just texture map the logo onto the cube using front projection. Add another camera to the scene. This will be used to project the image. In the Surfaces panel, set the Layer Type to Image, change Projection to Front, select your image, then change the Reference Camera to the one you added. You can use this camera to project just like the light you were using. Now you can change the surface to black and render out just the image map on a black background.

Thanks for the replies.

I actually got it working using the projection through the light.

I made a seperate alpha pass adjusting the diffuse to get
a good key.

Now I can composite everything in DF.
