His head reminds me of an ailen from something else.... Very good. I really, really, really want to see this thing with a walk cycle and especially a run cycle.

hi capel, thanks ...basically it's three point light as you may see in the image..

i have one key light which is area light ( orange color ), one back light ( blue ), two fill light ( blue and orange )...there's also one SKT light from skytracer 2..that's all..the cliff is hypervoxel from three nulls...
other images is using overcaster plugin by eki, but still uses same three point light as mentioned..
and the rest is photoshopped...

texturing question from a noob:

are details on the skin made using some sort of normal displacement or is that bump maping?

all textures is using bump mapping only as you might see in the images ( shaded ones ) that originally 'clean', no displacement on the surface...
my first time usig uv map so i made some mistakes actually:D
