View Full Version : LWSN remote nodes/remote renderfarm?

I travel with my powerbook, which is fine for modelling, but not equal to my home g5 box for rendering.

Is there anyway that LWSN can use a "remote" rendernode?

That is, has anyone used internet connected remote machines to render?

This would be great, if it could work. . .

Technically it is possible, if you can access the relevant folders on the render node you can set up the machine for render, would have to be permanently connected during the render, unless you mean: upload files - set render going - disconnect - do other stuff - reconnect when emailed about render finished.

Which would need some other software to automate the process.

Which I guess is how it works at:

and

I'm familiar with render farm services, but that's not what I meant. . .I was thinking of the scenario where I've got my machine at home, and I'm sitting in a hotel somewhere, hooked up to the Internet-- Can I create a VPN connect to my remote machine, and treat that as if it were running locally with LWSN?
