I'm fairly new to modelling, and i run into this problem often. This is a pair of pants for a simple character model. I have created the pants legs by smooth shifting polygons and moving them down in symmetry mode. I end up with these sort of tight pinches or creases. I've tried dragging the points in the area around to no avail. Spinning quads just moves the creases to another location. Any tips?

Absolutely not a problem: it won`t render creased. Try it and see, or just freeze the model and see what it looks like: it`ll be fine, I`m sure.

Actually, you will probably see the creases in the render but they won't be too noticable. They'll be even less noticable with a texture applied.

The pinching is because you have more then 4 polygons sharing one point.

The manual tells you to use spinquads. Not necessarily to change the flow but just to spin the quads until they end up right back where they began. Sounds strange to do but they say it may fix some creases.
