Ok, I'm sitting at home, bored, feeling Ill, annoyed at my complete lack of paying freelance work.

To cheer myself up I made a quick picture. Literally half an hour is all it took.

5 different model variations, procedural textures, depth of field medium enhanced antialiasing and a textured poly for the backround.

Simo :D

Heres the scene.

Looks good. I like the way you've used gradients to texture the outside brighter than the inside (at least that's what I'm assuming you did to achieve that).

I have to ask - what was the inspiration for this? On the other hand, maybe we shouldn't go there....!

Adrian.

This looks really great. It has a "scanning electron microscope" look to it that makes it seem authentic.

looks nice-
the heads of the sperms could be a bit different form the tail- but for a half an hours work looks nice-

Sperms do not all march along in perfectly straight lines.
The bounce around like they have Brownian motion.

True I suppose they do. But isn't that only when they are put in a dish. Usually they have a natural direction to swim in and go "up" so to speak.

Although there are always the ones that swim down, and best of all the ones that swim in circles. :P

Cool.

Maybe tweak the head surfacing a bit to represent it being thicker than the tail.

Like sense of motion - which is correct btw. Upstream 'til target acquistion (or rebelling from being placed in a dish) then squirming all around in search of an entrance point. Except for the slackers.

A thought for another render

Good image - especially considering the time element.

I think it IS what's on the hand that's the inspiration.....

You'll have to ask my girlfriend about that. :p

It's a good image, nice electron-microscope render. The only thing that grabs my eye and immediately says "THAT'S GC" is the crumple procedural. I really wish Newtek would just remove the **** thing. I see it so much, it is just so obvious when I see it again. Crumple for oceanscapes, crumple for rocks, etc.

This is not to crit your work though, you work within the limitations of the software.

Again, nice image.
