i'm thinking of buying this laptop. mostly will be used for Photoshop, Flash, Golive and occasionally LightWave.
will this be enough???

- 10/100 BaseT Lan + 56Kbps modem
- Hitachi Travelstar 5K80, 40Gb, 5400rpm, 2.5" 9.5mm
- Aopen CDRW / DVD-rom IDE Slim Barebook 155x
- Microsoft Windows XP Pro

Should be fine. As a rule with laptops I always max out on the RAM. It's cheaper if you buy the RAM after-market so when you do receive your new baby dump some more RAM into it.

....considering I used pshop + lightwave on a 90Mhz mac with 92MB ram a few years ago (albeit slowly!!) you should be fine.
Then again any new laptop / pc will work - all depends on WHAT you will be doing on it...web stuff is very low stress - large 3d scenes containing zillions of polys + light domes.....

The only weakness I see in that system is the hard drive. 5400 rpm is just slow these days, even for a laptop. And are you sure you're going to be okay with only 40 GB?
Otherwise, it sounds like a good package.

also a DVD-R would be a good investment if you're going to keep it for a while..
