Reading a review recently on the PURE hardware rendering PCI card and noting that it is designed to work with 3D Studio Max, I was wondering if there are any similar Lightwave-based/compatible hardware rendering solutions out there?

Kind Regards

No, there aren't, but Pure also can do Renderman and there are some tools that can produce RIB files (even though the many restrictions don't really make this worthwile). Still, I'm wondering what you would get out of it... For privateers and small companies it's much cheaper to get just another computer for rendering (the Pure cards are simply too expensive to justify the investment). Also those cards only work with special extensions to the programs (mainly geometry tesselation and translation plugins and special shaders that make use of the hardware) and don't accelerate everything. Especially such things that would bring the greatest benefit such as volumetrics either can't be done at all or are only rudimentary.

Nope.

Get F-Prime.

F-Prime is too limited for final render.
