View Full Version : Object hierarchy

Hi all,

I'm new to Lightwave and I'm wondering if it is possible to do any kind of object hierarchy in the modeler. For instance if I would model a car I would want the wheels to rotate but not the rest of the car.... :-)

I can't find any info in the .lwo description at http://www.newtek.com/products/lightwave/developer/8lwsdk/docs/filefmts/lwo2.html#c_VMAP about any hierarchy being stored. Would I have to use the scene layout tool for this?

I'm building models for a game so at this point I don't have any reason for loading up the scene layout tool.

Use Layers tools.

The fastest way: top-right on Modeler screen!

The object stores parenting information for layers, so double click any layer, and you can specify a layer as it's parent, and this is then obeyed when loaded in to layout. In conjunction with setting the pivot location in modeller, this is the way to achieve an example of a rotatable wheel.
