does anyone know how i could make a particle emmiter emit particles like the muzzle fire from a gun?

you mean like this?

Put a particle emitter in end of barrel (1 easch for shot and 1 for smoke) then have the shot use all particles within 3 or 4 frames (I used about 20 particles) and gave them a fireball texture (then tweaked a bit)
and for smoke, use the particles over time of say 90 to 150 frames, and use the smoke preset for texture (then tweak a bit)

yes i mean that but also how do i make it repeat over and over like a machinegun?

OK a little different but workable.

the smoker emitter is ledft on longer and parented to gun, then placed in end of barrel.

The fire emitter is a little different, in that you need more emitters to start.

A 12 shot burst would go like this:

Set your firing emitter and parent to the gun THEN place it in the end of barrel,

I an checking on the LW8 compy as I do this so I know it works and I won't give you false info.

I am testing with 5 frame intervals so here goes

You need a frame set of 138

my particle emitter is set to
birthrate of 5
particle limit of 100000
generate by frame

lifetime 3

velocity 10 meters on the X

everything else is default



Now add HV to the emitter

In the HV panel

Object type Volume
Particle size 185mm
size variation 100%
stretch velocity
check align to path
check show particles


Click on the E for disolve to open graph

for the 12 burst set

at 0% make keys at frames
0,5,12,17,24,29,36,41,48,53,60,65,72,77,84,89,96,1 01,108,113,120,125,132,137

at 100%

6,11,18,23,30,35,42,47,54,59,66,71,78,83,90,95,102 ,107,114,119,126,131,138


play out
you will see the 12 shots then they dissdolve between


You will have to play with the framerates but this will give you a place to start



There is no way that I know of to tell the emitter to fire at specific frames,so you have to make the HVs dissolve to give the illusion of seperate rounds being fired.

Worley also has a plugin thats part of the Taft collection. Its called tracer it not only allows you to aim the tracer fire but also export the envelope for the light that you can parent to the muzzel. You can also set the speed of fire. So, if you find you might need to do this alot may want to consider this.
