View Full Version : Cloth Dynamics - How does this new stuff work?

I been looking for stuff on the web and the forums to help me use the new Cloth Dynamics and can't find anyhting useful.

Here is my problem:

The model, the belt and the hard hat are all on the same layer.
I am using project messiah for my walk cycle.
I have a Model walking along an I-Beam wearing a safety belt, and want to apply cloth dynamics to the safety belt so that it deforms more smoothly around the model. Right now it meshes into the model and causes a jaggy effect where the model actually goes through the belt.

My real problem is, I can't find anyway to just select the belt surface as the only object you use the dynamics on. Last night I set it on the model thinking it would work, and when I got in this morning it wasn't even past frame 1. :(

Give that part a Selection Part name then you can select it as the focus in the Fx panel. It will also work based on a surface name.
Make sure you have a fixed structure on it, too.

Calculate on a proxy object then switch out the model to the hi rez one and it will go faster.
