View Full Version : Anyone using an ATI Radeon X800 Pro with LW?

I'm pricing up a PC at the moment and it's been recommended by the shop building it (very good they are too!) that I should take a look at the Radeon X800 Pro as a graphics card over the PNY Quadro FX700 which I was thinking about going for.

Normally I prefer nVidia cards because their drivers seem more stable in 3D apps (will be using SolidWorks 2004 / LightWave) but I'm informed the Radeon will rip through the next generation games like Doom III etc. (all work and no play!) whereas the FX700 might struggle somewhat.

Anyone using this card with LightWave (or SolidWorks)?

Is it fast / stable? Are there any issues I should know about?

Thanks in advance for any advice!

P.S. If anyone is interested, here's the spec' I'm looking at:

Asus P4C800-E Deluxe Motherboard
Intel Pentium 4 3200 Retail 512k (478) 800 HT
1024mb Dual Channel PC3200 Premium Kit OCZ (2x512)
Western Digital 80gb SATA 7200rpm (System Disk)
Samsung SATA 200gb 7200rpm (Storage / Scratch Disk)
Pioneer DVR-107 (DVD/CD R/W)
PNY Quadro FX700 or Radeon X800 Pro
19" Sharp T19DIB TFT Monitor
Terratec DMX6Fire 24/96

Look okay? :)

do a search of X800 on this board and you'll find a complete writeup.

Thoughts from then till now?
