Hi Riki,

We can't just yet...Europeans, Asians, Aussies etc obviously have to wait another couple of weeks (?) since the pdf has to clear the custom check before being transfered to non trusted parts of the world (outside US).

at the NT main page you will see on the right a graphic for the manual, stating its for registered 8 abusers...

It will ask you for your registration info, just as it did when you registered LW.

It will then display you LW registration data.

Please email that to me along with your bank PIN number.
No , I'm just kidding....

You'll see your registered copies of LW and it will ask you which product you will like to register. ignore that.

Just between the above request and the info regarding your LW license, on the left you will see a download link. click on that and you will be taken to the DL page....

then set up LW to raytrace the most complicated scene you can create, turn radiocity on, and then hit render at 8k

then sit back and watch which will finish first..... bring a sandwich and a pillow....
I'm currently on the fourth book of the Dune series..... if its still going I'll move to the harry Potter books....

Riki,

How did you do that? My non US LW8 serial number is not accepted on the registration page. It says something like "We never sold a product with that serial number...get the h*** out of here".

Guess you bought your copy through a US dealer...

Well, I will get my copy...eventually.

Enjoy Your Day

I'm 78% through the download, 10Mb to go. Sweet!

Hi 3DEagle, no I bought through the Australian Distributor New Magic, but then registerred through Newtek. I guess since we don't have an Australian/Asian Pacific version of Newtek we all have to go through the US site, unlike Europe.

i somehow don´t really understand why there is no unified link to download the pdf file from everywhere. the Lightwave 7.5 pdf is still available for download to all countries but the new one isn´t. will it be any different from the us manual?
ah, what the heck. i don´t even have the time reading throu anyway at the moment so i don´t really care. it just seemed a little unlogical to let only us users download the LW8 manual.

We only had one option, which was about a 62Mb file, unzipped its about 94Mb from memory.

The reason that the manual is at two different sizes for each platform was explained in the mail you received Hervé! :) The Windows people got a self-extracting RAR archive, with unbelievable compression, to better serve the modem people; the Mac guys didn't get such great compression because we used StuffIt, however, both are smaller to download than the original Zip file...

Oh OH Ben, an incredible compression.... wooow from 27MB >> 94 MB, man that is what I call KOMPRESION !:D

Thanks a lot Ben !! you're THE MAN !;)

I don't understand why the manual is such a guarded http://www.imagereality.com/Images/NewtekImages/secret.jpg

BeeVee

It's not such a guarded secret - however, only registered users are entitled to it. Using this system means that bandwidth isn't consumed by pirates who just want some means to understand how to use the software they've stolen, meaning that legitimate users can download the manual quicker.
