View Full Version : water splash across bow of ship

I've been fighting with this one for a few days, I don't have anything to post because I'm ashamed at this moment for not being able to figure it out...

I can't seem to find any tutorials on making an bow splash on a boat while traveling through water. Any ideas of how I can go about this? I just can't seem to get things to work right. I'm mainly concerned about the particles, but other solutions are good to for the bow to "cut" throught the water.

one cheap approach that can work pretty well is to texture a quicktime of a bunch of splashes/dots moving upwards onto a plan and then morph it to fallow your boat contours.

Make a couple of them, throw on some displacment and it might look better than you would think.

I've never tried that before (let alone thought about it). Didn't they do that for the waterfall in Star Wars Episode 1 at the waterfall?

I'm 99% sure the waterfall was sugar or salt composited in. It's on the DVD somewhere.
