View Full Version : Lw Cd

My Lightwave CD has become unstable. It had been sitting it its package for quite some time, (lw 7.0) and has aquired a "film" residue on the CD. I tried to clean it with alcohol, but it still take about 30 minutes to install. I never made a back up of the CD. Can it be returned or something for a replacement? or am I s.o.l?

Sent an email to customer support, I'm sure they'll send one out for the cost of shipping, etc

or better yet, get the 7.5c update on-line, it was a complete load (but it wouldn't have the Content directory)

There is also Disk Dr. U can by that will actually sand the surface of the cd. I have recovered quite a few CD's with it.

You may have CD ROT. CD's do not last for ever.

Check out these web sites.

CNN,com CDs and DVDs are not immortal (http://www.cnn.com/2004/TECH/ptech/05/06/disc.rot.ap/)

Information about "CD ROT" (http://www.mv.com/ipusers/richbreton/m/files/cd_rot.htm)

Foetusized's Article on CD Rot (http://foetusized.org/cdrot.html)

CD ROT (http://www.rdrop.com/~half/General/CDRot/CDRot.html)

I have just got a DVD burner and I have transferred something like 160 CD's to only 20 DVD's and I found that some of my CD's had CD-ROT
