I am getting old
You`re getting old? The sword of Damocles hangs over me this year: I`m going to be 40!!

01-13-2005, 11:02 PM
lol ;)

I will be 35 some time soon

01-13-2005, 11:23 PM
so Happy Birthday in advance Panikos !

young wolves, I am 45...... life's too short...

- before 40, you're still safe...
- after 40, you're entering in the last round
- after 45 you talk more, you act less...
- then 50 comes... and you're happy to enter in a new area, not so exciting though...
also sex starts to go bye bye.... he he...

I say as long as you're in good shape, it is OK.... (but I am not... he he) :D

BTW Panikos, it looks like a new rendering system for LW.... not really a 3D app... it plugs into LW...

also not expensive... and fast

1:30 hour for render in LW, while 2 min. with their app.... hummmm... :D :D :D

01-13-2005, 11:38 PM
jeeez, Panikos, you always find incredible stuff on the web....

I'll call you Magikos Panikos.... ;)

First render is LW (a hour and half), second is Kray (a couple of min.) (I wonder if they get their app name from Kray computers...)

Herve, Bonjour ;)

Its always a pleasure to be around friends, even in forums.
I suggest you get yourself some viagra :p
Even though I look like 25, my mind gets tired like 35.
Oh well

Soon I will see some friends in Germany. I promise that next trip will be at Luxembourg

01-14-2005, 12:37 AM
.... and you're more than welcome !! I even have a place for you to stay in my home..., coz hotels are expensive here.

Panikos my friend, what do you think of this new rendering engine...?
(no HV like F_prime... but nice caustics... ok I know f-prime has "some caustics also" but those are nicer... oh... and the price is nicer... and it seem there is lots of tweaks possible...

anyone uses it already...?

01-14-2005, 12:42 AM
new site.... same thing

01-14-2005, 12:46 AM
I am looking at the PDF Doc... it looks like we now have also single sided area lights possibility...... hehe :D

01-14-2005, 12:54 AM
he he... in their panel options... it is called

Kray Redering options

01-14-2005, 12:58 AM
jeezzz, many many many options.... you can even bake the lighting on textures... :D :D very nice for arch-viz.... :D :D

now all we need is the demo... :p

01-14-2005, 12:59 AM

Kray has exactly the same limitations as FPrime.
No Plugin Shaders
No PixelFilters
No ImageFilters
No LensFlare (These can be simulated internally anyway)
No Volumetric Lights (can be simulated)
No HyperVoxels or other Volumetric Plugins
No MDD support (yet)
No MotionPlugins (yet)

I predict that after LW8.2 things will be better, as long as SDK permits Read/Write operations of LW internal parameters.

Other than these, Kray looks very promising.
I dont have Kray, I am just guessing out of my experience.

01-14-2005, 01:02 AM
yeah, that what I expected... but for arch-viz, it looks promising already like this (like f-prime in fact) except, it has many more options, when F-prime has almost none... and apparently one can bake the lighting on textures.... :)

01-14-2005, 01:09 AM
FPrime's benefit is the interactive response to LW's changes (Surfacing, Lighting, Motion, Displacement) something that Kray cannot do.

Kray's strength seems to be fast rendering, freedom for adjusting parameters, baking GI etc

As I wrote elsewhere, I dont see these options as competition, but as complement.

BTW, thank you for your invitation to Lux.
Its mutual. You are welcome in Chypre avec accomodation ;)

01-14-2005, 01:22 AM
Hey thanks Panikos ! I'll make also some good dinner for you... come with your wife or girlfriend if you want .

Looks like we'll have F-prime for surfacing and previewing and Kray for long night renders... and our trusty LW for still renders... ahhhh so many render engines , so little time... :D

Cheers Panikos...
Oh, and I'll keep this nice Bordeaux especially for you ! :D ;)

Heh Herve

Merci beaucoup :D
Tu est bienveillant :)

Tu est bienveillant :)
Doesn`t that mean `You are very old`? :p

01-16-2005, 08:02 PM
Nope, it means "polite", "gentle"

01-16-2005, 09:59 PM
Sorry. Couldn`t hear you properly. Thought you said `bien vieille` :D
