View Full Version : Is there a round 3D font or a method to make one?

See the link below for an image of a few letters I created in modeler. I used balls, discs, and the bend tool, and typed text in a background layer as a visual guide.

It was very tedious.

Is there a simple method to convert text into a rounded shape like this, or is there a set of 3D letters available somewhere (preferably free) that I can cut and paste individual letters from the set to build up words like this?

p.s. I added the color in Photoshop to make it easier to see.

Elefont (http://www.armanisoft.ch/webdesign/FrmDownloads.html) and Accutrans (http://www.micromouse.ca/) will probably get you there. Make the the text in Elefont and save it then bring it in to Accutrans and convert it back to Quads and save out as .LWO.

Kind of a hassle but... one must do what they must sometimes to achieve their desired results. :)

Will one of those turn the font into a rounded looking font? LW has no problem directly entering text and extruding it or beveling it. It just doesn't seem to be able to make it have that round globby shape like in my image.

There is a way I do it.
I use LW 5.5
It makes the exact letters you need like that.

But someone in thier great wisdom, took it out after LW6

It was perfect for making neon tube letters.
It used any font on your system.

But someone in thier great wisdom, took it out after LW6

Hmmm... Not good. I started at 7.5, so don't have a pre 6 version. Is there perhaps a 3rd party plug-in that replaced that feature?

Just a thought, and haven't researched it, but will metaballs work?
