there is an option where you can check on the object to be unseen by the camera.

can't remember where it is, but do a search in the manual for it.

i tried doing that but then the particles go behind it still as if it wasnt there...
my minds starting to go crazy thinking about all this :(

The easiest way: Turn the front object 100% luminous, 0% diffuse, and apply the bg image as a front projection image map to the colour channel.

If you have a compositing tool, turn the front object into a matte object (object settings), black, alpha to 0, render with alpha channel and composite on top of the bg image (I'd render without the bg image, on black, in this case).

Front projection would have worked here also, but anyway nice to see you found a solution :)

Great to read :D

P.S. DMarkwick: Front projection was my first suggestion, my mistake, it was meant as try either a) or b)... ;)
