View Full Version : Crumpling A Piece of Paper

I need to take a sheet of paper and have it self-crumple into a little ball.
I'm guessing that I can take each point and move it around, but I thought there may be a way to automate the process. It needs to crumple down to a fairly small and precise size (it should "form-fit" into a tube after it's done).
Assuming I'm pretty novice at LW8, can anyone help direct me to a clever method?
Thanks much!

I dunno, just a thought, maybe using a morph in modeler using jitter and then sizing and squashing it down. Then after morphing in modeler you can use the sliders in layout for the animation.

have you tried using dynamics?

gjjackson: That's what I figured I'd end up doing. Thanks for that.

hrgiger: Can you be more specific, please? Perhaps direct me to a tute that explains this - or is what I need to know in the manual under "dynamics." I'm at Work and not near my LW computer.
I have LW8, but don't know it nearly well enough yet.

Thanks for the suggestions.

Actually, after thinking about it more, dynamics might take you a while to achieve that kind of effect. I might use a combination of bones and morphs to make the paper crumple up.
