hi

whenever i render a HDRI scene (i'm new to it) i manage to get decent reflections from chrome balls and the like, but any regular diffuse surfaces appear all 'speckly', with little dots of light all over it and stuff...

just wondering if you could help me

thanks,
Tom

i was having exactly the same problem tonight. the building and beach hdr images that came with lw8 seem to work fine, but not the kitchen one. the kitchen hdr image has a yellowish spotlight that gives specles all over my rendered images. however, if i use fprime, there is no speckle, just the render from lw8.

any one please help?

blur the image first.

Do a search, it's a very common question, you'll find loads of threads on HDRI and speckles ...

i've searched the forums with 'hdri speckle' and 'hdr speckle' and found nothing useful. can someone please shed some lights on this topic?

how do i blurr the image?

you can blur the image in the image editor. Under the processing tab there are some filters that you can use such as full precision blur. :)

Hi,

Ahhh yes searching for 'hdri and noise' gives better results actually, check out the posts for noisy hdri and bright pixels ...

try pressing LIMIT DYNAMIC RANGE in the volumetrics window

turning off adaptive sampling helps.

also try higher AA or more radiosity rays
