I have just loaded lightwave 8 onto my machine, and well i'm alittle dissapointed in the overall look of the program. Does anyone else think that it looks like it has stepped back in time abit. It all just looks so cold and well abit amateurish. I was wondering if anyone knew how to change the toolbar interface colours. I hate to be one of those people that picks the slightest holes in silly things but i really don't feel comfortable working in it, i want some of that warmth back, no what i mean?
by the way i'm on a mac and cannot find the hub.cfg file as described in an earlier question.

thanks for any help, and sorry to be a whinger.

Look for Lightwave Hub 8 Prefs in your Users/<username>/Library/Preferences

Only change is that lwhub.cfg has changed to lwhub8.cfg.
And you won't get the gradient and brushed metal look...

The only thing i really miss is the damn "undo" button :D

lwhub8.cfg is the pc version, it's Lightwave Hub 8 Prefs on a mac osx

Ah ok...so that was the real question :)

Strange the site doesn't mention how to do it on Macs when it provides a Mac executable version
The thread on the LWG forums didn't mention it either. Maybe i'll tweak my colors too, the blueish buttons besides the yellowish ones look a bit sick...

Yeah, after all the talk and asking for feedback from customers...I'm scratching my head a bit on how they ever decided on this color combo:

Baby Blue
Straw Yellow
Mint Green

Ah well.

Now my interface looks like the rainbow :D

Thanks for the info.

thanks guys for everyones response, glad to know i aint the only one with this little gribe. Although tell me if i'm being an idiot here but i've checked the hub preference's already and there is nothing to suggest changing interface colours. I am on panther platform (if that makes any difference) and i cant find anything. I have been on various other websites and one suggets changing in the Lsctript, well i'm not a programmer and fairly new with lightwave, so frankly this scares the s*** outta me.
am i just missing something!!!

It doesn't show up inside any of Lightwave's preferences AFAIK.
You have to add the text lines naming the colors (see theme creator) to your hub config file (whichever this now is on Mac OS).
By default there are no color options (at least i didn't have any) so just add the lines to the config file.

But you have to close the Hub first, because it overwrites the file with the current settings on each program termination.
After starting Lightwave again it should pick up the custom settings.

Btw, the LW8 default colors are:
ActionButtonColor 162 175 191
BackgroundColor 129 129 129
DialogButtonColor 171 188 188
DragButtonColor 174 174 174
InfoAreaTextColor 242 242 242
InfoAreaColor 79 79 79
StateButtonColor 161 174 190
ToolButtonColor 181 181 167

Just changed that horrible yellow...but this somehow still misfits...
(and gave me the undo/redo buttons back :D )

So with LightWave Theme Creator (LWTC) I can change the color from 8.0 to the color of 7.5? I havenít bought LW 8 yet I'm upgrading from 6.5 to 8.0 and I was wondering I saw pictures of 8.0 and I didnít like the LW 8 Interface.
Plz let us know if thatís the case so I can make a order 8.0!!!
TYVM For your time :D :D :D :D :D

Thanks for everyones input, finally got it to work and using the theme creator as a preview. I have attached the website to get it from, and apparantly he is working on a version for lightwave 8 but this is still good. For those who havn't, try it, pretty cool.

Thanks again guys and happy theming
