View Full Version : HardFX: "Self interaction" and "startByCollision"

I came across some strange behaviour of hard body dynamics: I have a scene with a single object that contains two boxes. I added Hard FX to this object, piece mode is set to "Parts", self interaction is set to "Box". When a collision object hits the first box, the box bounces against the second one which gets moved away. So far so good.

Then I switched on "startByCollision" and didn't change anything else. Now the first box just passes through the second box, no more self interaction!

"startByCollision" off:

"startByCollision" on:

Obviously "Self Interaction" doesn't work in conjunction with "startByCollision". Can someone confirm this? Is it a bug or is there any logic to this behaviour? What can I do as a workaround?

HowardM solved the problem: Piece Mode has to be set to "1piece>parts (collision)".

I would have never guessed that from the information in the help files. Hopefully the manual and some tutorials will shed some light on the new dynamics features.
