This is a really silly problem i'm having! I can't seem to figure out how to bring a picture into lightwave that has an alpha chanel and apply it to a surface and have the alpha chanel be transparent and only my desired image be visible on the polygon. I'm not sure if i'm making my alpha chanel wrong or what, Please this is driving me crazy.

First, make sure that the parts you want to see are white in the alpha mask, and the parts you want masked off are black. This is the opposite of a clip map for some reason.

Second, be sure that your file format supports alpha channels. If you are saving .tga, they must be RGB (no grayscale) and they must be 32 bits (32 for the RGB, +more for the alpha).

.psd files can be used as textures and they keep alpha channels as well.
