Erm i have to animate a load of arrows snaking around a relief map of the UK and was wondering what would be a simple way to ermmm do it simply and hopefully quickly because I am simple but not very quick:(

Build your arrow and dotted line along the z axis, with the head at 0,0,0. Key frame the head going around the coast, and then apply the deformer Serpent to the arrow and it should snake the thing around its path.

Serpent can work, but in my experience it's sloooooow. Try doing exactly what Dodgy said but make sure your object is built entirely in the -z. Then go to flay and search for the plugin shift_spline transform. Way more control and faster. :)

what's wrong with using lw's own spline control? it's always worked fine for me.

Yerm Thanks Dodgy. The serpent deformer does the trick. Hmmmm maybe ill take another look at that large book shaped object that came in the box...
