View Full Version : LW8 slow dynamics? still buggy!

Hi there,

finally may copy arrived today. I've been playing around a bit
and I found it to be less stable than 7.5.

As I'm writing this i am trying to add an emitter to a "highly"
subdivided plane. It takes ages, about ~5 min, for lightwave
to do that. It's just a plane with 85536 polys (trippeled,
no subpatches!), so what?! In LW7.5 it takes half a second.

Can anyone confirm this? I was working on a project about
waves and wanted to do some foam on them with HV.

Since I installed it today it has crashed more often than the 7.5
I used at work in several months. I'm not impressed by that
"stability" at all.

But hey, I guess we all know that Newtek will soon fire a
8.a at us which will adress some of the biggest bugs. :D

Hopefully some of the speed problems mentioned here at
the forum will be adressed.

well, and we'll have to wait again....

PS.: My machine: XP pro, Athlon2600, with 1.5 gig of ram and an nvidia fx

I find it very slow when handling many objects/polys.
DR's Impact! does a better job at an accurate solution
with many objects, + many more options and variables.
But I HATE that Impact! interface! Just plain silly.
I hope LW8 development improves in this area.
