When i save a transformed object and load the transformed copy into modeler, it's frozen. Is there any way to get it not to do that, or is that just how it works???:D

frozen? you mean subdivided? if it's subdivided more than you want it to just set subdivision to 0 in layout's object options.

I can confirm that bug, I just tested it on Mac OS9.2 LW7.5b and I got the same results as Capel

I took a Patched box, stretched it in Layout, then 'Save Transformed'. Saved it with a new name. Then opened the file in modeler and noticed that it was no longer a SubPatch and that all the Quads had been Tripled.

it not only happens in LW7.5b i think
even in LW7.5

Its not a bug, thats just what its supposed to do, it saves the object after every transformation, lightwave internally freezes and merges points on every object before it renders, thus when saving transformed it saves a frozen object.
As Danner said all u need to do is set the render subpatch level to 0 in the objects properties then load it in modeler and hit tab.
