OK...a very simple study in dynamics is driving me batty.
I created 3 ball objects and am trying to drop them on a cloth object. The tutorial was written for Motion Designer , so things are slightly different in LW8. For the life of me...my balls keep dropping through the cloth. I sure would appreciate if any dynamics wiz could toss me together a scene so I could analyze
it and make a breakthrough on this frustrating expereince. Thanks

Proton to the rescue as always :) He's put together some dynamics example scenes for you to pick apart and learn from. I hope this helps!

No, unfortunately it doesnt. The concept Im trying to understand
and analyze is pretty elementary compared to Protons helpful
tutorials. They are cool, but alittle more advanced then what I am trying to wrap my brain around here. Its like Im working on "addition" at the moment...and his lessons are on physics.
Once I can conceptualize this little exercise, I will be ready for more advance stuff. Thanks for the response, though!

This dummy figured it out! Whooppee!

So what was the problem ? Did you have to increase some settings, like the mesh density of your cloth or something ? I just vaguely remember using Motion Designer long time ago ;)

What I figured out…the short version…is that the balls needed a Hard Body (for natural falling motion ) and
FX Collision (to detect and create collision) AND the plane needed ClothFX (for cloth motion) as well as
FXCollision (to provide collision data to stop the ball from penetrating the surface). Several collision tweeks
make it work. Wheeew, that took a while! My brain hurts.

I think in that case you should either sue the merchant that sold you those pants or consult a doctor who is specialised on testicles.

Las,

When you applied the FX Collision object to the cloth bit, did your cloth actually react like cloth still?

I'm playing as well, and my ball just passes through the cloth, normally. If I also apply a collision object, the ball bounces off the cloth, but just off the rigid cage, and the actual cloth isn't affected.

Very strange. I think I've fiddled with every combination of settings, but I've obviously missed something.

Cheers.
