Since quite a lot of people voiced their concerns about features they think LW needs for them to "get the job done" better, and I couldn't really agree sometimes, I wonder what You gentle LW-using folks out there use LW for ?
I am a generalist and pretty much do everything from print to character design/animation, game stuff (2d/3d)...

Well I'm into architecture and architectural animations. I also did all the modelling for a real-time arch vis with quest3d for the postbank reacently. Now I'm waiting for LW8 to start my first short-movie. Preproduction is finished but I'd like to have the new CA features to move on, so I'll wait and wait and wait......

I use it for a little bit of everything and have produced a short film, a music video and some simple visualisation with the software.

I use it for anime porn, but since that wasn't an option, I thought I'd add it here! ;)

Just kiddin...I use it for whatever, whenever, and that usually consists of making childrens cartoons.

but I still use the computer for porn! ;)

you needed 'other'

I use it mainly to grow old ungrasefully as I pull hair out by the roots trying to figure stuff out.
If it wasn't for LW (from ver 3 to now) I'd STILL be a young whippersnapper.:D
Tho I voted for the next closest thing, TV visuals

I apologize, I should have added both "other" and/or "print" as additional options...

I use Lightwave to raise the dead. :D

Actually, I'm a history teacher by trade, and I like to model historical characters and scenes. To date, I'm still working on my first Civil War soldier.

Someday...BIG someday...I'd like to animate recreations of battles and stuff to make the kids understand what happened. Words just don't do it for some. :)

Well I'm a games artist but we use Maya, 3d max and in house software. i use Lightwave because it's what I used to use before I became a games artist. So I just use it at home now for my own use. I haven't actually managed to do much at the moment because I don't get home till late. I'm hoping to do a short story soon though and use it for the special effects.

I'm always surprised by people being surprised of this…
No one would ask "what do you use Photoshop for ?"
There are no differences between 2D and 3D,
these are just tools, you can work in every domain with every 3D package can't you ?

Pixym > yes good percentage for architectural viz
and so what ? Do you think we'll have a DWG import in LW 8 ? Of course we won't
(We are not even sure we got LW 8 itself one day…)

…besides it shows that there could be more users for archi viz than character anims… though NT
prefered to improve CA in LW8 and did almost nothing for us…

I use LW mostly for motion graphics, since my company is video production. I'm hoping to integrate more animation and special fx in what I do, but since most of my video production is in the area of weddings at the present, it doesn't fit in too well.
