I am thinking of upgrading the video card in my laptop (a Dell Latitude C840 2.4GHz P4) It currently has a 32Mb nVidia geForce 4 440 Go.

Which would be a better choice for use with Lightwave 8 -
nVidia Quadro4 Go 500 GL 64Mb or ATI Mobility Radeon 9000 64Mb?

Or would I not see much of a difference with either? Any advice would be appreciated.

Thanks

Stuart

Well, the Quadro basically is the exact same chip you already have, just with a few features enabled that LW won't support anyway. That makes the only real advantage the 32MB extra memory.

The ATI...it would give you better gaming performance, but OpenGL is not really ATIs strength, so i'd not upgrade it if LW is the only reason you want to...

And in LW the CPU is much more important anyway, you won't see a big difference, i'm pretty sure.

Thanks for the quick response, Lynx.

I'll follow your advice. I do sometimes play games on it; it runs Return of the King reasonably well as is.

It'll probably be a better bet to get the memory up to 1Gb.
