I need to get light through a transparant window i have in a wall. I have checked a illion things but no luck. What am I missing?

Make sure obviously that you have tranparency set in the surface editor. Also check your render settings and make you you have the ray trace features you need enabled (Transparency, but you may want refraction and shadows enabled as well).

I had all the setting correctly set. I am using G2 and it seems I had to check an additional box in the main G2 panel to get the light to pass through. Go figure.

It helps alot to turn up the colour filter in the advanced settings of the surface editor. Lets the colour of the glass come through - cool.

Seems like you fixed it, but just wanted to ad that the shadow type of the light source has to be raytrace, and not shadow map.
Shadow maps only do a depth comparison and so there is only 'light occluded' or 'no shadow' (unless you enabled caustics)
