Hey kmscott
Where are you?
I'm on the corner of Hampton and Lydell, right where Glendale, Milwaukee
and Whitefish Bay all border each other.

Yeah - hey - more news on this.
I emailed Josh and he gave me the go-ahead to provide some web space
for the group so... Viola!
There is the new home for the group :)

Are you going to the meeting tomorrow?
I can't be there. Tomorrow is my birthday and I have previous plans.

The meetings will be quarterly? Shoot. I was hoping for once a month.

Anyway - Josh should be announcing the new web site tomorrow
and then hey - the site is open to any other web/graphics input
from members of the group.

Can't we have another meeting in June? Dan Ablan would like to attend
a meeting soon, if we hit him on a good day.

I live on Fairmount in Whitefish Bay. Thanks for putting up the user's group webpage. I can't make it to the meeting on Wednesday either, but I hope to next time. I agree with having another meeting in June. That would give me enough notice to reserve the time, but wouldn't have to wait another couple of months. It'd be nice to meet Dan Ablan too.

It's great to know there are some Lightwave Cheeseheads out there. Would love to meet you all soon!!

Bones and Trawler,

I'm on the south side, just barely in Milwaukee county (right where Hales Corners and Franklin meet)

I will definitely be there tonight. Quarterly meetings are better than nothing; the last attempt lasted only one meeting (that was over a year ago)
There was a pretty good turn-out (about 30 people if I remember), I don't know why it fizzled.

It would be nice to have Dan Ablan there, even though technically he is a FIB!:)

Patrik Beck was at the last one, and he's no slouch in the tutorial department, either.

If any other Wisconsin (or Northern Illinois) people are lurking out there, please show up tonight!

05-12-2004, 07:41 AM
It's good to find you guys.
Yeah -
I actually took a class at MIAD and Pat was the instructor.
I guess I can blame him for hooking me on Lightwave. :)

Yeah - I can't speak for Dan or Pat but I think they'd love to come to a meeting.
That's why we should push for more than quarterly.
Me and Trawler are gonna miss out tonight :(

Hey, you FWP! :) I'd love to come.
I'm training until 5:30pm tomorrow, and then have to much to do here, so can't get up there in time.

I'll probably be at the June meeting - so please let me know in advance the scheduled date and time.

Have a good one!

Ah, yep.

Yah hey der.

05-12-2004, 02:17 PM
OK. Just remember to throw $.50 out your car window every 10 miles or so while you guys are up here.

05-12-2004, 02:50 PM
I'll throw cheese instead.

05-12-2004, 03:10 PM
uh-oh, I started an inter-state incident!!

05-12-2004, 03:19 PM
Oh this is very cool.
Glad to see Dan found the thread, eh?
I've been waiting literally years to meet other Lightwavers.
I'm heading out now to celebrate my birthday but
ya der hey, maybe I'll find a bunch of trailer living Harley riding
bar flies - fast becoming my entourage - and I'll bring a carnival
to tonight's meeting.

No - seriously - please, you guys.
Push for another meeting in June.
I can't wait to meet other Lightwavers
and I really want to meet Dan, too.

It's extremely basic right now - the design of the site and forum -
but please sign up at the forum so we can keep in touch.

We'll change the look and functionality of the site with input from members.

Cheers - really wish I could be there tonight - in Milwaukee, everyone
buys you a drink on your birthday and I won't make it three blocks, eh?

Peace and hair grease and all that stuff to Moowaukee.
errrrrrr Ma-waukee errrrrrrrrr Mow-wokee.

Bubblers rule! <-------(Drinking Fountain for you ahem, FIBs) :)

Announcing Bones' Beer N Brat extravaganza!

Before the meeting, July 14 at 7PM.

Brats, beer, soda, coffee, chips, etc.

Get there at 2PM for the day's viewing of General Hospital
(Luke should be back, soon).

Get there between 5 and 5:30 PM for hot brats (grilled sausage).
Brats may be consumed bun-less or any number of ways including
but not limited to: with kraut, raw onion, ketchup, mustard, etc.

Gourmet Milwaukee-style brats, pre-cooked at a a consistent and
delicate temperature of 160 degrees in a deliciously seasoned
beer broth and then perfected on the open flame of an outdoor grill.

Join a growing list of brat eating participants including [chef] Bones, Brad, Tony and Paul (and possibly Tony's friend).

PM/Email Bones for contact info and directions.
If coming from Ireland, please do an initial "MapQuest" to the North
American United State of Wisconsin.

We'll be eating our brats and then leaving for the meeting at about

Carpooling to be arranged after bellies are full of brats.

Oooooh, yah hey der....

What about the cheese?

06-30-2004, 09:34 AM

Now they put the cheese IN the brats!!
It melts while they cook 'em.

**channeling Homer Simpson***
mmmmmm, Cheesy Brats, aaarrrggghhh

06-30-2004, 01:11 PM
Aahh, a couple a two-tree miles from 'er in Chicaaaago, we gots polish saaaausage - and dey don't do dat to 'em.

07-01-2004, 07:57 AM
Originally I was going to say to Dan
"only a FIB would put cheese on a brat."
And... "Stop at Cheese Castle in Kenosha on your way here."

But now I must retract and say to Scott:
"what part of Milwaukee did you say you were from?"

At any rate - there's always an available chunk of Sharp Cheddar
in the fridge.
And sometimes some Feta, String, Colby, Parmesan and even some
curds. Oh, Swiss. Gotta have Swiss. And that bag of shredded,
pizza cheese.

07-01-2004, 08:27 AM

Actually I'm not originally from Wisconsin; I'm a transplant. I lived in Illinois before I moved north, but I'm not originally from there either.

So, I get to be part of both sides of the FIB vs. Cheesehead thing, and it was never my fight to begin with.

I'll bet you've never had burgoo. . .

(Nevermind, you guys wouldn't understand)

This just in:
A guy registered at the Milwaukee Forum as "Goatshrink" has
expressed interest in attending Bones' Beer N Brat Extravaganza.
I'm intrigued and just a little bit scared.
I wonder what he puts on his brats...

07-15-2004, 10:04 AM
I just wanted to say thanks to Dan "The Man" Ablan for coming to the meeting last night. It is a rare treat to get face time with the guy who literally wrote the book on Lightwave.
He answered all of our questions (well most of them anyway) and endured our heckling, and he only insulted the Packers once! Not bad for a FIB.
He also stayed pretty late, before he got into his private jet and went back to his villa in Italy.

07-15-2004, 10:35 AM
Hey Scott -
thanks for having me up.
Going on 3 hours sleep yesterday, I think it went well!

As for the Packers, they do what? Packers, Bears... whatever.
I insulted the cheeseheads. Let's get that straight. :)

It was nice to finally meet everyone. We'll do it again in the fall!

07-15-2004, 01:22 PM
It was great to have you up here, Dan.
The new book and the Courseware are looking great so far!
See you next time :)

The Milwaukee Lightwave group will be having a meeting tomorrow, May 3rd, 7:00 PM at Safe Harbor. The meeting is free, but donations are taken at the door to cover pizza and soda. As usual, FIBs are welcome as well, but everyone with a Wisconsin license is allowed to give you a "noogie."

The folks at Safe Harbor have been good to us, so be sure to support them as well.
