This was created for a local lad who produces his own Drum & Bass CDs.

What do you think?

Maybe it's just me, but something about the yellow light shining not only through the skull but also inside the mouth-- it's just phenomenal!!!

How did you do it, if I may ask?

whhooaa..disgusting !!! but so nice..
i am speechless

Gnarly! Good job!

The skull has fresnel gradient on the translucency and the transparency channels. A single yellow point light was placed inside the skull with shadows enabled. There is also a brain object inside the skull, which doesn't show through as I had intended. All this extra geometry should block the light from the back of the mouth, but doesn't. It seems like the translucency on the skull negates the solidity of the objects inside it. In other words a happy accident!

The head looks great, maybe a touch more contrast. I hate the design of those Ipods though. Can you give it a custom skin, something to fit better with the rest of the pix. I'd add some crusty stickers, just something to mess it up a bit.

Thanks for the comments. I also think the ipod looks a bit bland, but it was a last minute idea ( I was looking for a reason this blokes head exploded!) and I didn't get the time to really dirty it up . There are finger prints in the spec/diff/reflection channels, but they don't show up at the angle it is being held

very striking indeed!!

My only crit, is the skin that is being blown away seems too chunky/solid and it doesn't appear fleshy.

hehehe...nice picture indeed. The only crit I'd have would be the arm/hand. It seems too "clean" and featureless in my opinion, giving the impression (again, to me) that you concentrated on the face/explosion most of the time and added the arm/hand last as a mere detail. I'd add some hair, or dirt, or pores, or overall more visible irregularities in the skin.

Other than that, I like it a lot.

Guilty as charged. Used a standard poser figure for the arm/Hand.
May improve somethings and submit it to 3D world mag.
