View Full Version : measure morph

I would like to request a way to measure the distances of all points of a mesh between each other's surrounding points. Then be able to translate the local measurements to my flattened out mesh, on the X and Y. This will help w/uv mapping sds distortion.

Says who?

I assumed exactly that.
EDIT* I'll give an ex.
Your sphere is the base.
I unweld and spread sphere out flat on endo.
I want to measure the distance between all vertices on the base.
Then translate(morph) the same vertices and their surrounding vertices on the flattened out mesh the exact distance of the base sphere but only on the X and Y .
Now my unwrapped mesh's vertices are spread out the exact distance as the base.
Hope that makes more since. I'm LAZY when it comes to writing.

It makes sense but with a sphere there's going to be a lot of seems or it's going to be inaccurate. This isn't the problem with Lightwave's sub d surfaces and uv maps from what I've read.

OK, not a sphere a subd box. Just an ex.
I didn't say it was the problem. I said it would help. :)
If you've only read about the problem, and not experienced it first hand, then no wonder... :)

I've experienced the problem too ;)

The problem is with how Lightwaves subd surfaces are done, as well as how the uv map is done.
