Quite a simple one this.

A UV Map grid that covers -1 UV -1 & UV +1. This would consist of a 3x3 set of UV grids with the normal one at the centre.

Alternatively, just make it a 4x4 grid containing either the -UVs or the + ones.

Why?

We can use these areas outside the grid now, and potentially store many sets of UVs on one map (a saving if you are working on a games project) which is how other packages have been doing it for ages.

It is possible to position your UVs correctly using an Offset of 100% from the original 0 to 1 UV space now of course, but an extended grid would make adjustments easier.

Ideally, the grids outside the normal one would have a faded or dotted appearance to avoid confusion

Yea sometimes i'd also like the grid to extend a little further...
if you want an image to tile like 2 or 3 times it'd be much easier too.
