Hi everybody.

Just updated my Thickener.
It is a script that makes any piece of connected geometry into a solid shell.

New features:
- 8-ish interface.
- realtime interactive preview.
- remembers last settings.
- minislider for thickness control.

Still, its simple to use, works with subpatches and is free. Also its backwards compatible with LW7.x.

Get it here:

www.Blochi.com/gfx/thickener_en.html (english)
www.Blochi.com/gfx/thickener_de.html (german)

Hint: It respects your polygon selection, and will even keep the selection. However, in this mode the rim polys will not be merged, and also you will get a better preview performance if you first copy your selection to a fresh layer, and thicken the whole thing (without selection).

Enjoy!

I noticed some distortion, in this test on a simple box object. I'm ending up with diagonal verts (as show here)

Also I'm wonderring if it's posible to get an option, to thicken 'inside'.

many thanks again

Re. thickening inside. This quote was taken from the download page, though I haven't had time to try it myself.

Now you have a minislider, cause everybody just loves those cute little widgets. The slider is limited to a thickness of one meter, but you can enter any other value numerically. Negative values automatically switch polarity, and thicken to the inside.

How does this compare to Pump It, other than being free?

Wow, I really appreciate this overwhelming feedback. Since a Thank you is all the reward I expect, this place is so much better than Flay for releasing stuff. :p

The distortion is kind of natural, and has been there in the first one, too. It is just more noticable, because of the realtime preview.
All the script does (and did) is: Flip-Copy-Flip-SmoothShift-Paste-Merge. And the SmoothShift command is causing this shearing on straight angles. Unlike PumpIt, I does not use any propietary method to generate geometry. Just regular Lightwave functions.

So, If you need more control, or more options, go get HD_Pumpit. This one is for people (like me) that want simple tools that just shorten the workflow, not the crazy magic feature monster.

Once again, thanks a lot for this great feedback. It is really encouraging me to keep doing this kind of free stuff....

Cheers,
Blochi
