Hey, I created a character that I want to have use a sword. I figured I'd just parent it right? But wait! I also want to have to freedom to switch hands and also flip the sword around his hand. I'm not sure how to do this. Any help is greatly appriciated! Thanks !

The process maybe a little different in LW as I am still learning, I will only assume it is the same. My experience comes from Poser. Whereas parenting an object to a model means that the object is fixed to the model. So if you parented the sword to the right hand the sword would stay in the right hand allowing you to move the hand and the sword would follow.
From what I can tell that what you would like to do is to - Parent the sword to the right hand create your animation with the right hand. Unparent the sword, create another animation of the sword flipping and switching hands. Finally parent the sword to the left hand and create another animation.
You would need to create a key frame where the sword parents and unparents each hand.
Then you should beable to do a final render for the whole animation, or create three separate animations and merge them together in a video editing program.
I am sure someone here will either add to my info or let me know I am way off base. However I am assuming this is how it should be done. Hope it works, good luck.

Buy Polk from Steve Worley... you'll get this:

And 32 other very useful plugins, plus some silly toys he includes in the package.

Don't forget that Lightwave has a built in parenter under your motion modifiers.
