There was a thread once about spiral logos:

http://vbulletin.newtek.com/showthread.php?s=&threadid=16740&highlight=spiral+logo

And a link to "invasion of spiral logos" for those who don't want to read that thread:

Although it has evolved somewhat over the years, NewTek first used the "spiral" logo for LightWave with version 4.0, circa 1995.

Ermmm.... the Max & Maya logos are the number 6, so unless they use Roman numerals, it's going to be a spiral shape. You know clever marketing people can't keep it plain.

Forget the "6" , I never noticed till now that the first "a" in Maya has almost the same exact shape as the Lightwave swirl logo.

Subliminal Advertising?

I like conspiracy theories as much as the next guy, but the "a" in Maya is actually their "6" backward with a leg added. :D
