View Full Version : Any Motion Designer settings for hair?

Does anyone have any hints for a 'jumping-off' point of settings for hair in MD?

I have a character with long-hair guides for Sasquatch. I want the guides to react to subtle dynamic motion via Motion Designer the way you would expect hair to move (not too long - not even shoulder length).

I've played with MD for hours (days?), but if I leave the settings at the default (cotton), the guides stretch to 5 or 6 times their original length and acts somewhat like fine silk - no friction at all. if I adjust the setting so that it somewhat holds its' shape by increasing the 'spring', 'sub-structure' and 'hold-structure' settings, the guides become too springy and sort of vibrate like wires. Can't seem to find a happy medium.

Has anyone ever done this before?

turn down the stretch limit, and play with weight!
play with ALL settings one at a time and see what they do.
