How do you delete a Surface Name in the Surface Editor?

The short answer:

You can't

The long answer:

You can't delete a surface name, however when the object is saved any unused surfaces are not saved to the object file, so when you reload the object they should be gone.

If you don't plan on saving & reloading for a while, and the unused names are getting annoying, just rename them all to something obvious like 'dead' or 'ignore me'

I mostly give my surfaces names such as "Building - Outer Wall, Building - Stairwell" stuff like that - the benefit of this is that you can filter surfaces in the Surface Editor to just work on a given set (Building for example) - If you rename those unused surfaces like mkiii suggested then you won't see them when you use the filter - quite handy (although I agree it would be useful if you could delete surfaces too).

Here I rename my dead surfaces in "zzz_..." :D

I hope the "flush" / "update" / "refresh" button will be back on 8...

Thanks all.

I hope LW 8 has a better way to do this.

Judging by the features page, it would seem that it hasn't.

Hey mkiii - I love your new avatar! Is that something you've built in LightWave? Looks like a Warhammer 40k space marine...
