Having experience with Maya, a feature that it has that would make a good addition to Lightwave (hope...please)
...Envelopes for all variables in layout. Especially procedural textures. Gradiants would be especially handy to be able to change over time. There are many other variables that could use an envelope option.

I would also like to see a procedural texture based on a radial pattern. Eyes would be much easier with this.
:p

Yes. Some things do need more control. One different setting, not strictly related to your suggestion, that needs better control is the smoothing setting.

The newer Procedurals, such as FBMNoise & Coriolis *do* have enveloped settings of course, so it is possible.

For procedurals with complete internal control, you might want to get hold of the free Shades Project shaders. You can envelope all their internal settings. http://amber.rc.arizona.edu/lw/shades/welcome.html

Admittedly, this is not quite as convenient as an internal procedural layer with enveloped settings, but they are pretty good.

Oh & the Shades project do have an eyeball shader.

They have some good adds to Gradient input:
Bump -1 to 1 (finally... hey... NT...)
Surface Tangent Slope
Surface Normal Slope

Bye.
