great render- excellent use of the textures!
Is there any geometry on the floor or is it just a cool texture and nice compositing?

HI all, I'm new to lightwave but after looking at all the images here I have to say, WOW. I am truly looking forward to learning how to use it! jeremyhardin that is one of the best 3D rendered pictures I have seen in a long time! Great Job!

so you used the same image as displacement and as texture?
btw. the lightening is great- can you tell us the setup?

Is it possible to post or link to a wallpaper sized version of this image? somewhere around 1152x870...it's a sweet destop image....also I know it's finished but somewhere down the line a 'winter' version of this scene would be nice to see...some melting snow on the brick and mitten and such....

i'll render a wallpaper sized for you.
Here's the basics of how:
planar mapped texture for the mitten since it's fairly flat.
displaced plane with texture from Newtek.com Member freebies for the floor.
Lit with warm area light for key and cool backdrop only radiosity for ambient.
set up depth of field with iDof.
Keyframed the mitten's x and z scale slightly increasing and decreasing over 1 frame to get motion blur "fuzz".
saslite for random stray threads.
