Best thing is to experiment after reading up on the surfacing section of the manual.

Here are some surface files to play around with, and don't forget the ones that you have installed already.

Search the Newtek site, they had a competition which I think is still online, with some nice downloadable leather presets.

mkii... thanks for the link. I didnt realise Lux had those there.
I'm just wondering if I should download all of them whilst they are still there for Lightwave. Once Modo is finally released, I wonder if the Lightwave downloads, will magically disappear....

You can use Google or Altavista to search for images.

Or try a catalog such as Tandy Leather (www.tandyleather.com) or the Leather Factory (http://www.leatherfactory.com).

First, however, you need to figure out what you mean by "leather." There are many different types of leather. Appearance varies widely depending on what animal it comes from and how the leather is prepared, tanned, dyed, etc.

If you want a really detailed texture, your best bet might be to buy a piece or leather and scan it. Both Tandy and the Leather have remnant bags that are fairly cheap and will provide a good assortment of samples.
