That all it took for me to get from the maxon splash page to a link for a Demo for C4D or Bodypaint. And that includes the first click for selecting the language!!!!!!

uh, Newtek?

BTW, it takes just three mouse clicks to even get to free porn.

uh, Newtek?

Takes 5 on NewTek.com _if_ you know where to look and that the 7.5c update is actually a full install that will run in demo mode without a dongle.

Chances of a casual user knowing that is next to none, I agree, there should be a nice graphic on the front page saying "Click here to download a demo".

I just don't understand why this is so hard to do?

I think NT rather wants to promote LW8, so I guess after LW8 has been released, we will have a nice big beveled LW8 DE download button.

There were posts on the old Newtek forum some years ago, calling for the free Lightwave demo to be more accessible. I don't know why it never has been. Newtek keeps it "under the counter".

As far as I can remeber NT never had a clear/simple download-demo-here page or icon!

Quirks... quirks... and more quirks! ;)

Another little thing...
take a look at
http://www.newtek.com/products/lightwave/index.php
LightWave main page!

Ok!
Where you see the LW[8] Feature List?
Left bottom...
nah... why is it not on up center... so everyone can see it immediately?

I dunno! ;)

Bye.

Indeed, and with other companies offering their demos/full versions with limitations on the likes of www.fileplanet.com home page. For gamers, most of them have never heard of lightwave. Need to advertise more!.

Point of presence is LW's biggest failing here in Europe.
If you mention it and it's price a lot of companies see it as a toy a bit like poser to a degree.
The last house I worked for was Max because they knew of Max but I managed to get permission to use LW as it was my own. The next thing other modelers were buying thier own copies and using them in the office. The disheartening part was that the dev house manager would still not buy it (LW) as it was "too cheap to be good."

NT here needs to get a presence, we know how good it is but, we can only get the message over so far and at least get our colegues to look at LW. NT needs to get teh message over to the bean counters :)

I would bet that Newtek will rearrange their pages when LightWave 8 ships. Maybe not a redesign (no need) but they know that a lot of people will be coming in to the site to learn and read about LW 8 when it's out. But that's a good point, hopefully they will have an easy, obvious link to a LW8 discovery version download.. they advertised it a lot when LW 7 came out so I bet they'll do the same with 8.
